James Leroy Williams

1922 – 2002

Benton County, Cole Camp, Mo.

 

James Leroy Williams, 80, of Cole Camp, died Sunday Oct, 27, 2002, at Fairview Nursing Home in Sedalia.

 

He was born April 9, 1922, in Florence, a son of Bert Williams and Josephine Carver Williams Adams.

 

In 1942 he married Irene M. Kottman, who died Nov. 9, 1960.  In 1961, he married Ruth M. Davis, who died May 18, 1991.

 

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cole Camp.  He was a lineman for United Telephone Company for more then 35 years.  He enjoyed horse-back riding, bird hunting, and fishing.  He was a former member of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge No. 653 of Warsaw.  He was in the Army during World War II.

 

Surviving are four sons, Morris Williams of Cole Camp, Jack Williams of Sedalia, Gerald Williams of Guam, and James Williams of Overland Park, Kan.; one brother, Dennis Williams of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

 

He is preceded in death by one son, Rodger D Williams, one sister, and two brothers.

 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp with the Rev. Russell Lucas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Cole Camp with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 305 of Cole Camp.

 

Pallbearers will be Scott Allen Williams, Matt long, Mark Williams, Aaron Williams, and Brian Williams.

 

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8: p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Cole Camp, Memorial Cemetery or Benton County Hospice in care of the Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp.
